Warm waters and gentle surf
Bank Street Beach is located directly on Nantucket Sound which is a body of water that is calmed by the island barriers of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Nantucket Sound Beaches also have the warmest water (72°F in peak summer), making them swimmable from late Spring through Fall.
Lifeguard on duty
In season, Bank Street Beach is manned by lifeguards from morning until evening. Coupled with the calmer waters of Nantucket Sound, this makes it a great beach for families.
Beach Facilities
Bank Street Beach has permanent restroom facilities and the parking lot is frequently visited by local food and ice cream trucks. The handy boardwalk aids with easy beach access, also making it wheelchair accessible.
Beach gear rentals
Be sure to bring your own beach towel, chair, and umbrella if you need them—but if you’re traveling light, we offer high-quality beach chairs for rent at $5/day or $15/stay, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
